100 Million Doses with the Get a Shot. Give a Shot.© Campaign

This year marks a particularly special milestone in Shot@Life and Walgreen's Get a Shot. Give a Shot.© campaign. The program has now raised enough money to provide 100 million lifesaving vaccines to be administered to children who need them most.

Despite the turbulence of this year, the end of 2023 brings a moment of celebration.

In 2023, Shot@Life and Walgreens entered our tenth consecutive year of partnership on the Get a Shot. Give a Shot. © initiative. Through this program, for every flu shot or other immunization administered at a Walgreens or associated store, the value of a polio or measles vaccine is donated to reach children across the world with lesser access to essential health services.

One in five children around the world still lacks access to the essential vaccines that help keep children in the U.S. healthy. However, programs like Get a Shot. Give a Shot. © are making a huge difference in supporting vaccination efforts around the world. Through Get a Shot. Give a Shot. ©, Shot@Life has been able to support measles and polio vaccination efforts in Afghanistan, the Central African Republic, Chad, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, East Timor, Tanzania, and more. Now more than ever, any efforts towards “reaching the unreached” with lifesaving vaccinations is pivotal.

This year alone—starting from September 1—the partnership has raised $2.6 million to help provide vaccines to children in low-resource countries. Beyond this significant achievement, this year marks a particularly special milestone in the program; since 2013, the Get a Shot. Give a Shot. © program has raised enough money to provide 100 million lifesaving vaccines to be administered to children who need them most. After reaching this benchmark in funds this year, the remainder of the 100 million doses will be distributed on the ground in early 2024—so the work is not over yet!

The past year has been one of many ups and downs, and uncertainty across the globe calls for us to come together and help one another in any way possible. There is one incredibly simple way to protect the health of both you and those around you: get vaccinated! Visit any Walgreens or Duane Reade in the final days of 2023 for your flu shots and COVID-19 boosters.
