Why Shot@Life Advocates Love Get a Shot. Give a Shot.
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues this fall and winter, flu shots are especially important to help prevent the spread of seasonal influenza, and avoid a “twindemic” of both diseases spreading at the same time.
Shot@Life grassroots advocates love the Walgreens Get a Shot. Give a Shot.® program because it enables them to protect themselves and their communities against the flu, while also protecting children around the world against some of the deadliest childhood diseases.
Join us in our mission to help protect children around the world and learn more about what the program means to some of our advocates.

“Since learning about the Get a Shot. Give a Shot.® program, getting my flu shot at Walgreens has become an inspiring annual tradition for me. I love knowing that I’m helping kids around the globe get the lifesaving immunizations that help make it possible for them to grow up and reach their full potential. I have traveled to Uganda, where I saw immunization programs first-hand and heard from mothers who were incredibly grateful for the protection vaccines gave to their children.
The Get a Shot. Give a Shot.® program turns what would otherwise be just another appointment and small ouch into a chance to make sure others are as fortunate as I am to get vaccines.
It’s a chance to celebrate the hope that vaccines bring, the important role they play in good health, and the knowledge that there are individuals, organizations, and corporations like Walgreens dedicated to keeping children healthy. That’s something to celebrate.”

“I am a polio survivor, and my legs are paralyzed because I did not have access to the polio vaccine in India in the 1970s. Much of my life has been shaped by this experience, including leading to my adoption by a family in the U.S. I support the Shot@Life and Walgreens Get a Shot. Give a Shot.® program, which helps pay for the 1 in 5 children worldwide who, like me when I was a child, still don’t have access to lifesaving vaccines.”

“My husband and I both like getting our flu shots at Walgreens because we feel happy to make a difference for vulnerable children. Whenever anyone gets a shot at Walgreens, Walgreens donates a vaccine to a child in a low-income country thanks to Get a Shot. Give a Shot.® So mobilize yourself and your family to immunize yourselves with your flu shot soon, and you’ll treat a precious child to a vaccine without spending anything.”
