Statement from Devi Thomas, Director Shot@Life Campaign, on President’s 2017 Budget

Following the release of President Barack Obama’s 2017 budget, Devi Thomas, Director, United Nations Foundation’s Shot@Life campaign, issued the following statement.

“The Shot@Life campaign joins our global vaccine colleagues in applauding the Administration’s commitment to prioritizing the health of children around the world. The President’s budget calls for $174 million in support of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s global polio eradication efforts, which is a $5 million increase over last year, in addition to $50 million to address the spread of measles and other diseases.  The Administration has also demonstrated a commitment to providing children access to life-saving vaccines with a proposed $275 million in support of Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance. President Obama’s 2017 budget invests in the United Nations and other vaccine partners to ensure that children around the globe have access to the life-saving vaccines they need.”
