Shot@Life Celebrates 10 Years of Get a Shot. Give a Shot.

We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Walgreens and celebrate a landmark tenth consecutive year of the Get a Shot. Give a Shot. ® program to immunize children around the world.

With the number of flu cases and hospitalizations surging earlier than usual around the country, flu shots are especially important this year to help prevent the co-circulation of COVID-19 and flu. The most effective tool against spreading both viruses? Vaccination

This fall, Shot@Life team members and I received our flu shots and COVID-19 boosters at Walgreens. We were excited to help protect ourselves and our communities against flu and COVID-19, while also protecting children around the world against some of the deadliest childhood diseases.

“Getting a shot at Walgreens could make a world of difference,” says Roberta Plantak, Shot@Life’s Corporate Partnerships Officer. It’s empowering to know that the small act of getting my flu shot can impact a child’s life in a big way. The Get a Shot. Give a Shot. ® program is a great example of how simple it is to make a difference.”

The Shot@Life team isn’t the only one eager to get vaxxed this fall. Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation’s leading infectious disease official, recently had his booster shot administered at a Duane Reade pharmacy, a subsidiary of Walgreens in New York City, televised live on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

Immunizations received at Walgreens or Duane Reade through December 31 help provide vaccines to children in low-resource countries who need them the most. Children in places like East Timor, Chad, Tanzania and Afghanistan have benefited from this unique program that taps into our ability to do something good for others while also taking care of ourselves.

Thanks in part to the support of our advocates, the program has provided 80 million vaccines for children around the world who need them most. You are the ones who made this possible with your support on social media and compassion to make sure every child around the globe has a shot at a healthy life.
