Let me just say it again, thank you. #GivingTuesday was a HUGE success because of you.
Yesterday, because of your commitment to children around the world, combined with the generous match funding provided by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, more than $320,000 was raised to fund our effort to combat pneumonia.
We’re honored to be one of the charities Bill and Melinda Gates highlighted for this national day of giving. The Foundation’s dedication to global childhood vaccines, and the Gates’ personal commitment to spreading the word about the power of immunization, is so inspiring.
We are also grateful to the many Shot@Life Champions across the country who hosted phone banks calling on their friends and family to give to Shot@Life on #GivingTuesday. Your passion drove so many individuals to learn about our cause and our Global Advocate, Jo Frost, amplified their work through media interviews.
We also owe many thanks to two corporations who supported us in a big way on December 2. MAM USA, the global leader in pacifiers, bottles and infant oral care products kicked off our fundraising efforts with a $25,000 donation in the early morning hours of December 2 and Walgreens, who has partnered with us for the past two years for the Get A Shot. Give A Shot.® campaign, closed out the day with a $25,000 gift.
Pneumonia is one of the leading killers of children worldwide, and because of this outpouring of support, # pneumococcal vaccines will be delivered giving thousands of children the opportunity to experience first birthdays, first steps, and first giggles.
All monies raised yesterday, and throughout the month of December, will support our partner Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, as we work together to fight pneumonia.
Thank you to everyone for your support of children around the globe and kicking off the holiday giving season with such fervor!
