#Blogust: Reaching Firsts and Making a Difference We all remember

Writer, blogger, social good advocate and stay-at-home mom, Minneapolis, Minnesota
I am a writer, blogger, social good advocate and stay-at-home mom living in Minneapolis, Minnesota with my two children Max (8) and Sophia (6). My children keep me continually busy and I am constantly amazed by the imagination, energy and joy of life that they possess! A world wanderer at heart, I have been fortunate to have visited over 30 countries by either traveling, working, studying or volunteering.
A graduate of French and International Relations from the University of Wisconsin Madison, where I met my husband Paul, I have always been a Midwest gal living in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Chicago. I also had the opportunity to live in Paris and Marseille attending the University of Sorbonne and doing an internship with a french company. I love to be outside doing anything athletic (hiking, running, biking, skiing, snowshoeing or simply enjoying nature), to travel and volunteer abroad, to write, and to spend time with my beloved family and friends.
My dream is to teach my children to live compassionately, open-minded lives that understand different cultures and the importance of giving back to those in need. I believe strongly in the value of making a difference in the world, no matter how small it may be. If there is a will, there is a way, and that anything is possible (as long as you set your heart and mind to it!).
My latest venture involves advocating for the UN Foundation Shot@Life (a program that provides vaccines to children in developing countries), RESULTS (grassroots organization to end global poverty) and ONE as a ONE Moms Community Partner. I also am a proud member of the Global Team of 200, a group of women bloggers destined to change the world through our voice. My proudest accomplishment: I have successfully raised money to help build two reading centers in rural Nepal.
I am an active writer and editor of Human Rights and Social Good at World Moms Blog. My work has also been published on Huffington Post – Global Motherhood, Elephant Journal , Broken Light Photography and Open Salon. Besides thirdeyemom, I also have a travel photography blog called thethirdeyeworld.
