Washington, D.C. (September 28, 2022) — The United Nations Foundation is proud to once again partner with Walgreens for the tenth consecutive year to help provide lifesaving vaccines to children around the world through the Get a Shot. Give a Shot.® program. Beginning September 1 until December 31, 2022, for every flu, COVID-19, or routine immunization Walgreens administers, the company will make a donation to the UN Foundation’s Shot@Life campaign, up to $2.6 million.
Since the inception of the partnership in 2013, Walgreens and Shot@Life have helped provide more than 75 million measles and polio vaccines to children around the world and are on track to reach 100 million immunizations by 2024.
“Vaccinations are proven to protect against diseases, and one of the most effective ways to improve the health of communities,” said Anita Patel, PharmD, vice president, pharmacy services development, Walgreens. “Our long-standing collaboration with the UN Foundation ensures that children around the world have access to lifesaving vaccines.”
The Get a Shot. Give a Shot. ® program has paved the way as an exemplary partnership that has been highlighted across noteworthy publications and news channels. It has won numerous awards, including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s 2020 Citizens Award in the “Health and Wellness” category.
Together, Walgreens and Shot@Life remain committed to helping protect millions more children with lifesaving vaccines during the ongoing pandemic and beyond.
