Why We Love UNA-USA
February 6, 2013 BY Christie Albrecht
At Shot@Life, we love: great champions, all-star partners and of course the children we’re working to protect with vaccines. The United Nations Association of the USA is one of those awesome partners that are bringing their energy and expertise to spread the word about global vaccines.
This week, I had the privilege of joining more than 600 members of UNA-USA at the United Nations Headquarters in New York for Members Day, a dynamic and informative gathering on the most pressing issues facing the United Nations. We heard about topics ranging from global conflicts to issues facing young people to the environment, all within the walls of the United Nations. So cool.
But best of all, I got to see UNA members in action. They come from all over the country, from different backgrounds and cultures; however, they share a passion for the UN and are working hard to promote UN causes.
Many UNA-USA chapters around the country are bringing their creativity and knowledge to Shot@Life. The Iowa UNA chapter has been working with the University of Iowa, Central College and the Boys and Girls Club of Des Moines to raise awareness about global vaccines through everything from a dinner party to a sports tournament and a sports advocacy event.
They are also working on a community art project using Shot@Life photos and a civic engagement event at a summer camp. Watch this video to learn more about how Iowa UNA is promoting Shot@Life.
Thank you to all the UNA chapters who are working to help save lives through Shot@Life. Learn more about the UNA-USA.
