Summer Blog Carnival Finalists Announced

This year, the Shot@Life team has been traveling across the country to educate Americans about the importance of global vaccines. We’ve met a lot of bloggers along the way, bloggers who are passionate about children, global health, advocating for a cause, and storytelling for social good. We asked these bloggers to join us at a summer blog carnival and celebrate childhood with us. The blog carnival took place last week and tomorrow, one lucky blogger will be chosen to have their blog post featured on Real Simple’s blog, Simply Stated!

Real Simple just announced the finalists for the blog carnival. Read their favorite posts and comment below to let us know who you think deserves to be featured on Real Simple!

“Every Kid Deserves a Trophy” by The Six Year Itch
Liz Henry from “Six Year Itch” compares life to sports. It’s not just about winning; it’s about how you play the game. Her child’s trophies are her vaccinations.

“SOCIAL GOOD: Shot@Life and Reliving First Kisses” by World Moms Blog
Shot@Life Champion and Founder of World Moms Blog, Jennifer Burden, tells us about her first kiss – not the one that happened with her high school boyfriend – Jen tells us about the first time she kissed her baby girls. She asks us to join her in re-living the first time you kissed your child and to think about the mothers and children around the globe that deserve more shots at re-living their first kisses.

“Shot@Life: A Tale of Immigration & Immunization” by Dirt & Noise
Ilina Ewen's parents gave her a shot at life. In return, she will do the same. Read her tale of immigration & immunization and why she believes that every child deserves a shot at swimming in the deep end.

"Dreaming of the future" by Roots and Wings
Shot@Life Champion, Myrdin Thompson loves summer milestones. She wants to help make sure every child gets a shot at riding a bike without training wheels and going to camp.

“The First Place Moment” by A Parent in America
Have you ever seen the face of an unathletic girl who is handed a trophy, when the only other thing she has ever won is a game of kitchen table Scrabble? This is exactly why Jessica McFadden wants to make sure every child gets a shot at that first place moment.

“Getting a Shot@Life and Making Memories” by Midwest Mammas; Sweeties Freebies
Lisa Collins shares why she believes every child deserves a shot at playing in the leaves. These are the moments we cherish and live for.
