Some moms walk 15 miles. We're asking for 15 minutes.

April 19, 2012 BY Elise Glaum

Some moms walk 15 miles to reach life-saving vaccines for their children. We’re asking you to spend 15 minutes or less each day during World Immunization Week to help spread the word about the Shot@Life campaign and the importance of global vaccines to give every child a shot at a healthy life.

Here's your to-do list for next week:

MONDAY, APRIL 23

Write a blog post about the Shot@Life campaign and why you became a supporter.

Submit your blog
to the Shot@Life blog carnival on Monday morning. Blogs entered will be featured by Shot@Life throughout the week. Share your blog post with your friends on Facebook and Twitter.

Don’t have a blog? That’s ok! Help promote our guest blog post on Monday by Shot@Life Champion, Amy Graff. Share this post with your friends!

TUESDAY, APRIL 24

Find a picture of your child, or a child in your life, achieving a milestone moment, and post the photo on Facebook and Twitter.

Tell your friends why this milestone is important to you. Include a stat from Shot@Life about how 1 in 5 children die of a vaccine-preventable disease. That’s one child every 20 seconds and approximately 1.5 million children each year. Those children never get a shot at [insert what your child is doing in your photo]. We’re so lucky to have access to the life-saving vaccines that some moms walk 15 miles to reach for their children. Encourage your friends to go to shotatlife.org to join the movement.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 25

What is your wish for children in the developing world? By helping them get access to vaccines, what milestone do you hope they reach? Look through the Shot@Life photos on Flickr and choose a photo from the Honduras, Myanmar or Mozambique album. Post the picture on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest along with a caption that says your wish for that child. (Ex. Every child deserves a shot at making best friends.) Encourage your friends to go to shotatlife.org to join the movement.

One more thing: Help promote the Twitter Party tomorrow! Encourage all of your friends to participate from 9am – 12pm ET via #vaccineswork!

Check the new Shot@Life Facebook Tout Tab to see all of the videos we’ll be creating at the launch event at the Georgia Aquarium!

Don’t have a smart phone? Help spread the word about Shot@Life’s new Tout campaign by sharing Anne Geddes’ Tout kick-off video, which will be posted to the Shot@Life Facebook Tout tab and on Twitter on Wednesday evening.

WHAT ELSE CAN YOU DO?

If you're looking for sample Facebook posts and Tweets, you can find some here.

There are many other ways you can help spread the word offline! Consider hosting a small event (tell your co-workers about Shot@Life over a brown bag!). Remember to take photos!
