One dad's promise for children
June 14, 2012 BY Peter Yeo
I have two growing sons – Ben and William – and can’t imagine life without them. Fathers Day reminds me of the joys of being a dad, but also the less-than-fun moments – like holding down Ben, with tears streaming down his face, so he could get his vaccination shots. But that’s what dads do, and I’m so fortunate that my kids had access to life-saving vaccines. More than a million children around the world are not so fortunate, and die each year due to vaccine-preventable disease.
Today is the beginning of the Child Survival Call to Action Summit, held in Washington to build momentum on the work being done to end preventable childhood deaths. As a dad, I can’t think of a more important task.
How can you join the summit? Check out the live webscast! Shot@Life will be there tweeting throughout the live stream. Join us as #promise4children.
