Love is in the Air

The women of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs are ushering in spring in style.
These lovely ladies have been raising awareness and funds for Shot@Life in incredibly creative ways, and this spring they’re getting clubs involved through the In Bloom Shot@Love Spring Contest, which runs from Feb. 9 to May 31.
Clubs have run events highlighting Valentine’s Day and St. Patrick’s Day and will continue with highlighting the onset of spring (hooray!) and Mother’s Day to showcase Shot@Life and raise money for global vaccines. Prizes will be awarded for the most creative project and best fundraisers.
We’re constantly awed by the incredible energy and creativity of the GFWC clubwomen. You might think that Mr. Potato Head has nothing to do with Shot@Life. One GFWC club sold pieces of a Mr. Potato Head with the goal being to sell enough to make a full doll and save lives.
Clubs have had fun with Shot@Life themes as well. One state convention is planning to place shot glasses on the dinner table and ask attendees to donate their spare change. Another club played a variation of the game Quarters to benefit Shot@Life.
We were thrilled to have Nancy Jones, GFWC International Outreach Partnership Chairman, join our group of Champions in Uganda last fall. Nancy describes the trip as “life-changing,” and since returning has shared her firsthand experience with GFWC clubwomen across the country. Read Nancy’s story from Uganda.
Shot@Life partners are a diverse bunch, and we love having GFWC clubwomen spreading the word and getting their communities involved in the movement to expand access to global vaccines for children around the world. Thanks for helping us celebrate spring and save lives!
