Have you met the 5th child?

In the Shot@Life community, we are passionate about working for access to vaccines for all children. But how often do we think about the poorest and hardest to reach children? This week at the GAVI Partners Forum in Tanzania, there's been a lot of talk about the "5th child." This child is from the poorest communities and is far more likely to die by his or her 5th birthday. The health community used to believe that trying to reach these unreachable children was far too costly.

Kicking off the GAVI Partners’ Forum with simple reminders of simple solutions

Giving Thanks for the Little Big Things

Three weeks ago, as hurricane Sandy was hitting the east coast, I was on my way back from Uganda after what was an incredible journey with nine Shot@Life delegates to see the impact of life-saving vaccines around the world. But after over a week away from home, all I could think about was getting back in time to see my kids dressed up in their Halloween costumes and experience one of my favorite childhood milestones with them.
