Every child deserves a shot at a healthy life

April 24, 2012 BY Elise Glaum

1 in 5 children lack access to the vaccines they need to survive. Because of this, every 20 seconds a child dies of a disease that can be prevented by a vaccine -- that’s 1.5 million children each year! Those children never get a shot at being a messy eater or catching their first fish. Here in the U.S., we're lucky to have access to the life-saving vaccines that some moms walk 15 miles to reach for their children. Here are some of the Shot@Life team's favorite milestones that we hope to give every child a shot at...

Today, Tuesday, April 24, we're asking each of you to find a picture of your child, or a child in your life, achieving a milestone moment, and post it. Tell your friends why this milestone is important to you. Include a stat from Shot@Life about how 1 in 5 children lack access to vaccines. One child dies every 20 seconds - that’s 1.5 million children each year. Those children never get a shot at [insert what your child is doing in your photo]. We’re so lucky to have access to the life-saving vaccines that some moms walk 15 miles to reach for their children. Encourage your friends to go to shotatlife.org to join the movement.

Thanks for a great start to World Immunization Week!
