Dr. Martha Edwards
Pediatrician in Fort Mill, SC & Mom Congress Delegate
Dr. Martha Edwards is a pediatrician, wife, and mother who has been spending every Friday for the past 10 years providing free medical care as a volunteer at the Rock Hill Family Resource Center Free Medical Clinic, where children with little or no health insurance can be brought in for care. She believes that for children, being in good health improves their chances of success at school and in life.
Dr. Edwards was instrumental in bringing Free Medical Clinics to each city in York County, South Carolina. Teachers and school nurses know that they can send any child to Dr. Edwards and she is going to care for them as she would her own children.
Dr. Edwards participates in Reach Out and Read, providing books to each of these children and encouraging them to do well in school. She is the mother of three beautiful children; Emily 17, Chris 15, and Janie 11, and is actively involved in their schools and education.
Dr. Edwards makes sure that kids don't have to miss out on playing sports because they can't afford a physical. She treats many non-English speaking children, who have no other options in health care. She has spent additional countless hours seeing to it that children who needed specialist care, medication, glasses, etc. received what they needed.
