As a 40 year member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC), Nancy has worked with a variety of international agencies/organizations, supporting programs and projects helping people in developing countries. She has traveled to the Dominican Republic to work on a program empowering women to establish cottage industries. It not only empowers the women and girls but also helps to provide for their families and their villages. Nancy believes if you empower women, changes takes place for everyone.
For the past four years Nancy has been very active with the United Nations Foundation’s Shot@Life Program. As the GFWC International Outreach Chairman she has been able to share the desperate need for vaccines and immunizations in third world countries around the globe. In 2012 Nancy travelled to Uganda with the Shot@Life team to see firsthand what immunizing children can mean to a community. She talked to mothers and grandmothers that had lost multiple children to preventable illnesses. By vaccinating a child before age 5 the child will have a “shot” at more birthdays, childhood adventures, and adulthood. Nancy believes motherhood is universal and wants the same healthy future for all children whether it be Africa, Asia, or the USA.
