My Shot@Life Launch Party

It’s been a huge week. This week is the United Nations’s first ever Global Immunization Week and today in Atlanta, the UN Foundation’s Shot@Life program was officially launched. Talk about a lot of milestones reached! What a huge success for the world’s children who do not have access to the vaccines that keep them alive.
Last night, I finally had my own Shot@Life party here at my home in Minneapolis. I had been planning this event for months and finally it had arrived. I worked all day long getting the house decorated, cleaned and ready for the big occasion. I was exhausted before it even began. The initial guest list was 100 women in the community and about 20 came. No matter! We had a blast and together we raised $811 for Shot@Life in one night! This means that we have made enough funds to vaccinate 40 children for life! Before the party, I also had received $340 as donations from friends who weren’t able to come, bringing the total up to $1,451 raised for Shot@Life! I am beyond thrilled! Thus far, we are providing enough funds to vaccinate 72 CHILDREN!!!! And I haven’t even included my donation yet or other donations that I am hoping are coming soon!
The night was a huge success and a ton of fun! Thankfully the weather held and it was a gorgeous Spring evening here with the lilacs in full bloom sweeping their lovely scent into my home. Everyone was in great spirits and everyone was a great supporter of Shot@Life. Perhaps because we are all moms, we all understand the importance of each child having a shot@life. A shot of reaching more of those amazing milestones that makes parenting the toughest job you’ll ever love.
Each one of us would do anything for our children. We know as mothers we are all the same. We all love our children and would do anything to keep them safe. That is why we support Shot@Life.
