Peter Yeo Thanks Representative McDermott for His Contributions Towards Polio Eradication

Peter Yeo, President of the Better World Campaign and Vice President for Public Policy and Advocacy at the United Nations Foundation, issued today the following statement to recognize Representative Jim McDermott (D-Wa) for his work supporting the global eradication of polio.

“Representative McDermott has dedicated his life to solving some of the world’s most challenging problems, from Africa to Latin America to Asia. His work has led to agreements such as the ‘Africa Growth and Opportunity Act’, ‘Peace, Democracy and Development in El Salvador Act’ and the ‘Medical Neutrality Protection Act’. Additionally, he has lead the bipartisan resolution commemorating global polio efforts and has been recognized with the Rotary Polio Eradication Champion Award.

The United Nations Foundation is proud to present Representative McDermott with the Shot@Life Congressional Champion Award for his unwavering support, advocacy and determination to help us end polio.
